The Paradise Regatta will be providing two free entertaining events for the Public!

Event 1: The Paradise Regatta Sprint!

  

  

 

Description: 32 Teams of 4 battle it out in a one on one knockout format under lights at Circle on Cavil. DJ Lloyd will be mixing it up with professional lighting and live footage of the athletes on the ergos up on the big screen.

Time: 6pm – 9pm October 10th 2008

Event 2: Paradise Regatta Race Day

 

Decription: Crews from Brisbane and the Gold Coast will race along Australias most picturesque waterway from the Southport Yacht Club to the Gold Coast Arts Centre. Waiting for the rowers at the Gold Coast Arts Centre will be a public marquee with food and drink on sale and a live Jazz Band to entertain.

• Moreton Hire – Surfers Paradise Rowing Club
• The Lost City – Coomera Anglican College Fathers Crew
• Cool Co Air Conditioning – St Hildas Mothers Crew
• KCs Fireworks – St Hildas School Coaches Crew

Griffith University Boat Race – Queenslands Strongest Rivals Griffith and UQ battle it out in the Mens and Womens Varsity VIIIs.

We are hoping to grow a bit of a Melbourne Cup like atmosphere in the tradition of major public rowing regattas like the Royal Henley Regatta in the UK and the Head of the Charles in the USA.

Everyone is welcome to attend and we encourage all to wear a touch of Red to support Griffith or Maroon and Blue to support UQ.
